Love Island 2019: No carbs and 3-hour workouts - inside the girls' gruelling beauty regimes

It's almost time for the crop of sexy singles to enter the Love Island 2019 villa but they will have already spent months getting ready for their TV debuts.

Being on the show means spending the whole summer in swimwear, and many of the stars go to extreme lengths to make sure they look good.

Montana Brown, who was on the show in 2017, revealed she kicked off a gruelling diet and fitness regime to prepare her body for the cameras.

She cut out carbs completely and would do three-hour work-outs every day.

Montana told Closer magazine: "I found out I was going on Love Island two months beforehand and went on a health and fitness kick.

"I’d start the day with fasted cardio – spinning or running for an hour before eating breakfast. I’d do hill sprints, too.

"In the evenings, I’d do 90 minutes of weight training. I was also doing around 50 squats a day to get a peachy bum.”

Montana also went on a "hideous" diet, cutting out all treats and packing in plenty of protein.

She explained: "I’d have salmon, avocado and eggs for breakfast and maybe some salad with brown rice for lunch...

"But after lunch, I cut out carbs so my body would burn fat for energy.

"I cut out my usual crisps and sugary treats and snacked on pumpkin seeds instead – it was hideous.”

Montana went on to warn viewers that the bodies they see onscreen do not reflect real life as the contestants will have dedicated their lives to making sure they look good.

The excessive grooming doesn't stop when they enter the villa - they still get hair and beauty treatments to keep them looking perfect.

Many viewers noticed last year that Dani Dyer even managed to get to the salon to have her hair dyed.

The stars also get their nails done and get access to plenty of freebie products, usually provided by the show's sponsors.

Love Island returns to ITV2 on June 3.
