Love Island 2019: Islanders' celebrity connections - from bitter splits to awkward encounters

Love Island's class of 2019 has been unveiled - and they're probably the most glitzy bunch yet.

From partying with One Direction stars to dating past contestants and calling a boxing legend 'brother', this year's Islanders have plenty of star power behind them.

Here's a rundown of the biggest stars the villamates have got saved in their phone...

Lucie Donlan

Newquay surfer Lucie, 21, dated last year's contestant Charlie Frederick - the one who got booted out of the villa with Hayley Hughes .

But it doesn't appear things ended on good terms with Charlie - who was 22 when he starred on the show - accusing her of being 'immature'.

"[She's] most definitely not looking for love! She's only 21. I hope she's going in there with the right intentions," he recently blasted.

"She'll get a couple of Instagram followers on the way, if you know what I mean. You’ve got to do what you've got to do to get the Z-list fame."

Addressing his fling with Lucie, he described it as a, "Bit of a holiday romance," he continued, "If you ask me, it was really good, her family were great but it didn't work out. She was too young. We were never in love with each other."

Amy Hart

She once partied with Liam Payne (Doug Peters/EMPICS Entertainment)

Air hostess Amy, 26, became mates with One Direction's Liam Payne after he invited her to come join his party on a night out.

"We were in the VIP bit and so was he and he walked past me and I smiled and he said ‘Hey, you alright? What’s your name?’" she recalls.

"He told us to come and sit in his booth and we had a picture together. I put it on Instagram and then my cousin who was twelve and a big One Direction fan put it on her Instagram and suddenly I was on all these international One Direction accounts."

And she also once caught a flight with the ultimate Love Island hater, Piers Morgan.

Amber Rose Gill

Amber Gill is mates with the locals (ITV)

The 21-year-old beauty therapist from Newcastle is good mates with last year's Geordie Love Island stars Adam Collard and Ellie Brown .

"Everyone knows everyone in Newcastle!" she joked.

Tommy Fury

His big brother Tyson is rooting for him (PA)

The 20-year-old boxer is the younger half-brother of sports legend Tyson Fury .

Like Tyson, he's carved a career in the ring and fought his first professional match last December.

However, he's determined to prove he's much more than just a sports star's sibling.

"I’m my own man and I’ve said it throughout my whole boxing career," he says.

"I don’t want to be labelled as his little brother, I’m my own man and I’m doing the best that I can do in life and that’s all I’m setting out to achieve."

Anna Vakili

Anna had an unfortunate meeting with Kem (ITV)

Sexy pharmacist Anna, 28, bonded with 2017 winner Kem Cetinay when she bumped into him overseas.

"I met Kem Cetinay in November when I went to Dubai. He was with his really hot cousin and I was chatting to him," she says.

However, their tete-a-tete didn't end well.

"I slipped and fell straight down in front of them," she admits.

Curtis Pritchard

With that mega-watt smile, there's no mystery over which Strictly Come Dancing star he calls bro.

Curtis, 23, is the younger brother of AJ, with both boys sharing a love of ballroom and Latin dancing.

The brothers were cruelly assaulted at a nightclub in Nantwich, Cheshire when they returned home for Christmas last year.

Curtis stepped in to protect his brother when the thugs set upon him, and was knocked unconscious and suffered a suspected broken nose, blurred vision, a split lip and a potentially career-altering knee injury.

“Curtis risked his own dancing career to save mine as he threw himself in front of the attackers so they couldn’t get to me," AJ told The Sun.

"He was thinking of both my dancing career with my legs and my TV career with my face. “He tried to protect me and in doing so saved my life and my legs from danger."
