Love Island 2019: Eyal Booker reveals exactly what happens to the contestants before the show kicks off

Reality star Eyal Booker has revealed exactly what the Love Island contestants are up to in the hours before a new series kicks off.

Booker, who found fame on the popular show last year, recalled the “lockdown” period before the show gets going, and joked that it’s like a “mini holiday” before they get cut off from the outside and assigned their own chaperone.

“Lockdown is pretty much a nice little holiday before you go in, you get your phone taken away and you’ve got to say good bye to your family and friends,” he told The Sun Online.

“It definitely comes in waves, one minute you’re super excited, the next your freaking out a little because you’re about to go on this show.

“It’s not like you’re locked in a room for seven days and you’re just in your own head. You’re very much able to discuss your concerns and things like that.”

Booker, 23, described the experience as “daunting but nice” and said you have to “trust yourself and go in there and be true to yourself”.

Love Island: Eyal Booker and Megan Barton Hanson chat in the villa (ITV)

After a turbulent time in the villa following failed romances with Hayley Hughes and Megan Barton Hanson, Booker went on to continue his quest for love on E4 hit Celebs Go Dating.

He has since found love with 20-year-old Delilah Hamlin, daughter of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna.

Series five of the popular show returns to screens tonight, with a new batch of singletons hoping to find love and walk away with the cash prize.

First-look images show the girls – Lucie Donlan, Amber Gill, Yewanda Biala, Anna Vakili and Amy Hart – getting to know each other before the first coupling.

Love Island returns to ITV2 tonight at 9pm
