Lost in Showbiz once saw a chatshow on which Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward were asked what the secret to The Longest, Strongest Marriage in Hollywood was. He just rolled his eyes in mock exasperation and shrugged, and she laughed "Don't even start me on that!"
It's such a shame that Paul and Joanne couldn't be as classy as the 19-year-old High School Musical actress, Vanessa Hudgens, who is dating her co-star Zac Efron. Vanessa is already delivering regular keynote addresses on the subject of love - the kind of theorising beloved of typically dysfunctional celebrities who usually break up seven minutes after explaining how civilians should live. Not that civilians can ever know love like someone in the entertainment industry knows love. But they can scrape by, and look grateful.
This month it's the turn of Cosmo Girl readers to be the beneficiaries of Vanessa's wisdom. "If you really love someone," she informs them, among other discourses on the matter, "you shouldn't have to work at it. You finish each other's sentences and have the same sense of humour."
