Love Is Blind contestant sparks ‘girl code’ debate after taking trip with female castmates while engaged

The dramatic Love Is Blind season 10 reunion has sparked a debate about “girl code” after one of the contestants, Devonta Anderson, went on a trip with three girls from the show while he was still engaged to his fiancée, Brittany Wicker.

Every season of the Netflix dating series begins with 30 singles entering isolated rooms (known as pods) where they spend days forming emotional connections with people they’ve never met. Contestants then propose to their strongest match before meeting face to face, heading on a romantic trip and returning home to begin their new lives together. Each season culminates in weddings, where couples decide whether “love is truly blind” by saying “I do” or “I don’t.”

This season saw Anderson and Wicker struggle with their physical connection in real life and ultimately decide to call off their wedding, but they remained engaged.

At the cast reunion that aired Wednesday night on Netflix, Wicker said she reached out to ask Anderson if he wanted to break up nearly three weeks after filming wrapped. He replied that he was willing to work on the relationship, but then told her he was leaving on a work trip. However, he was actually going to Austin, Texas, to attend a concert with castmates Brianna McNees, Priyanka Grandhi, and Ashley Carpenter.

“He went to Austin with a few of the girls in the cast,” Wicker revealed. “And then a few days after he got back from his work trip, he said he felt like he couldn’t show up for me and disappeared.”

Wicker then asked McNees, Grandhi, and Carpenter if they knew that Anderson was still engaged at the time. “He had made it clear that you guys had called it off,” McNees responded. Carpenter agreed and said that Anderson told them Wicker knew about the trip.

Anderson admitted he lied to the women and said that he and Wicker had officially broken up.

“I should have been more honest with them,” he said. “I was still processing. In my head, it was over. I don’t think the words had come out directly. And with that trip to Austin, there was no ill will.”

Meanwhile, McNees, sitting next to her boyfriend, claimed she didn’t know she needed to “ask for permission” to invite Anderson.

The drama intensified when Grandhi revealed that Anderson stayed at her place for a night in Austin.

Wicker then invoked “girl code.” “I shouldn’t have found out from somebody that wasn’t them,” she said of the women involved.

On X, many people came to Wicker’s defense and criticized her female co-stars and Anderson for their apparent lack of honesty about the trip.

“Devonta is weird,” one wrote. “The whole fake girl crew looked guilty.”

“Bri is not a girl’s girl. She lied on stage when she told everyone that Devo stayed at an Airbnb. Then Pri admitted they all stayed at her house,” another added.

“The fact that it’s the same three girls once again being messy with someone else’s ‘man,’ is not cute. And Bri constantly calling him ‘Devo’ like they’re besties would [piss me off] if I were Brittany.”

However, other people questioned Wicker’s anger towards the girls on the trip and her reaction to Anderson’s behavior before the breakup.

“I get why Brittany is emotional, but I disagree that he couldn't be on this girl's trip, like who cares? He's allowed to go wherever he wants lol,” one wrote.

“Wait. Wait. Brittany has anger towards Bri and not Devo. Girl pls stop,” another added.

“Brittany GIRL!!! A whole two weeks not speaking to that man was THE ULTIMATE clarity, closure and confirmation that it was over.”
