David Fincher and Tim Miller, who directed 2016’s Deadpool, have collaborated on a new animated anthology series.

Love, Death & Robots, which will debut on Netflix, is a collection of 18 animated shorts that span multiple genres including science fiction, fantasy, horror, and comedy. The stories will be created by animation artists from across the world.

The major selling point for the series is that the shorts are intended strictly for adult audiences, with episode ranging from five to 15 minutes length, encompassing a wide range of animation styles, including both traditional 2D animation and photo-real 3D CGI.

The project is executive produced by Fincher, Miller, Jennifer Miller, and Josh Donen.

Love, Death & Robots is my dream project, it combines my love of animation and amazing stories,” Miller said in a statement.

“Midnight movies, comics, books, and magazines of fantastic fiction have inspired me for decades, but they were relegated to the fringe culture of geeks and nerds of which I was a part.

“I’m so f***ing excited that the creative landscape has finally changed enough for adult-themed animation to become part of a larger cultural conversation.”
