Love Actually pastel green mews house in Notting Hill on sale for £2.75 million

A pastel-coloured mews house on the street made famous by Love Actually is on sale for £2.75 million with Knight Frank — just in time for Christmas.

St Luke's Mews starred in a secret romantic moment between Keira Knightly and Andrew Lincoln's characters in the 2003 festive romcom by director Richard Curtis.

Set over four storeys, the three-bedroom home comes with its own garage behind snazzy green doors and a south-facing rooftop terrace.

It also comes with swanky features such as a Liebherr wine fridge, Miele appliances, and underfloor heating – perfect for hosting a cosy Christmas party.

With its pale green-painted facade, the pretty house fits right in with its neighbours on a street that has been dubbed one of London's most Instagrammable.

"Properties on this mews are always in high demand and this pastel green exterior epitomises the colourful aesthetic charm of St Luke’s Mews, now world renowned due to its cameo in the Christmas film Love Actually," said Jack Thomas, sales manager in Knight Frank’s Notting Hill office.

“This newly refurbished mews home has been meticulously redesigned to feature elegant, open plan living spaces which seamlessly blend with its outside space of both garden and south facing roof terrace."

In a much-parodied scene, St Luke's Mews serves as the backdrop for a scene where Mark (Lincoln) confesses his forbidden love for Juliet (Knightley), the wife of his best friend.

Using a boombox playing Christmas carols and a series of placards, Mark reveals his strange and hostile behaviour towards Juliet is because he's... secretly in love with her.

Love Actually has copped some flak in the two decades since its come out for everything from its portrayal of women as shallow love objects, borderline creepy romance plots, and general lack of diversity.

Curtis has since reflected on what has been nicknamed 'the stalker scene' where Mark turns up at Juliet's Notting Hill doorstep.

"I think it’s a bit weird," said Curtis.

"All I can say is that a lot of intelligent people were involved in the film at the time, and we didn’t think it was a stalker scene."

Despite having hit cinema's 20 years ago, Love Actually is still a fixture on any Christmas film roundup.

Fans have flocked to St Luke's Mews so often that the owner of the pink house – which stood in as Juliet's own in the movie – had to request that people stop posing on her doorstep for the perfect Instagram snap.

St Luke's Mews is also in a particularly enviable location, right by Portabello Road and its famous market.

Even Richard Curtis admits the scene from Love Actually is

Notting Hill, which also starred in a Curtis film of the same name, is beloved by celebrity residents such as Stella McCartney, Claudia Schiffer, and Damon Albarn.

Curtis and his wife Bella Freud lived in the area since the Nineties, but are believed to have sold their house for around £30 million in 2022.

Oscar-winner Ariana DeBose recently said she dreams of moving to the neighbourhood.

"Find me a flat in Notting Hill — it sounds picturesque,” DeBose told Zoe Ball on a Radio Two interview.

Interior designer Kelly Hoppen has lived in the area for 15 years and told Homes & Property she loves its independent shops and sense of community.

If you're sold on St Luke's Mews as the perfect Notting Hill location but £2.75 million is out of your budget – or you're one of the super rich Londoners choosing to rent rather than buy – there's also a home up for rent on the same street for £2,750 a month.
