One of the child actors who appeared in Love Actually has revealed they think the film is pretty rubbish.
Since being released in 2003, the Richard Curtis film has become a Christmas staple with many households setting it aside for an annual watch.
Now, comedian Lulu Popplewell, who played the daughter of Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman's characters, has called it a “s*** film”.
Popplewell, 29, was Daisy, the child who won the part of the lobster in her school nativity play.
Speaking on podcast Almost Famous, Popplewell said: “Look, softly be it spoken, I think it's a s*** film.”
Despite this, Popplewell insisted she didn’t regret working on the film, but said she thought it had “aged badly”.
She particularly criticised how Curtis wrote the female characters, calling them “passive objects”.
“You also have to remember that he [Richard Curtis] was writing in the context of the time. I mean I don't know how he excuses more recent work. But it was in 2003 or whenever it was out.”
She acknowledged that she doesn't like cheesy films, stating: “I'm glad people like it.”
