Lovat Mill gets weaving for Bentley

BENTLEY has chosen tweed from the Lovat Mill in Hawick as part of its Mulliner’s Personal Commissioning Guide.

There are four different tweeds to choose from and all are made using Lovat’s special production methods, which mean they have no impact on the local environment.

Even the electricity used to power the looms comes from renewable energy sources and most of the mill’s workers live within walking distance to keep the carbon footprint as small as possible.

This is why Bentley chose Lovat’s tweed to use as an option in its Continental GT, Flying Spur and Bentayga models.

Each tweed is distinct from the others and includes the Glen Plaid-Tolsta Beach cloth, named after the coastline of the Outer Hebrides.

There’s also a Cheltenham tweed, with soft greens, while the Charcoal choice has a dark finish and the Herringbone design offers a lighter colour.

All of these materials can be used to cover the door panels, sections of the seat and centre console, so customers can make their Bentley unique with a Scottish twist.

Bentley Design Director Stefan Sielaff said: “Scottish tweed is an iconic fabric that brings warmth and a tactile nature to our cars’ interiors not found anywhere else.”
