Lovable Cockapoo races the same 6.48am train every single day

A hilarious video shows a lovable dog who gets up early to race the same train every single day.

Each morning Hobbes, from Wicklow in Ireland, chases after the the 6.48am from Gorey to Dublin as it speeds along the track.

The adorable pooch, named from famous comic strip Calvin and Hobbes, always gives his all, despite never catching the train .

And the Cockapoo has built up hordes of social media fans with his antics thanks to owner Marc Diamond 's videos and posts, DublinLive reported .

He said: "Everyday the Gorey train comes rumbling past and Hobbes faithfully chases it along the path at breakneck sprint before returning absolutely delighted with himself.

"Never fails to make me smile."

A recent clip showed Hobbes sprint off to make a headstart on the locomotive, but still come back disappointed.

Commentating, Marc tells fans: "And it's Hobbes versus the train again. Here it comes. Hobbes is off to a headstart."

Laughing he says: "It's kind of barreling along, I don't think he's going to do too well.

As the train disappears into the distance the dog runs all the way back.

Marc tells him: "It was a good run, it was a good run Hobbes."

"Hope he'll catch it one day," commented one viewer.

Marc joked: "I hope not!? Where would we put it?"
