Tributes have flooded in for James who is described as a "fun loving" and "caring" lad who looked out for others.
O'Raghallaighs GAA Club Drogheda led a string of tributes online writing: "On Monday of this week the club received the very sad news of the passing of one of its brightest stars. James Lambe, son of Aidan ( Chops ) and Catriona brother to Fiachra, Oisin and Niamh, passed away after a long illness.
"The Lambe family are woven into the fabric of the O'Raghallaigh's club and local community.
"During his illness James portrayed dignity, courage and maturity beyond his years.
"James cared and looked out for others so much that even during the first lockdown, in between his treatment he still made time to volunteer to deliver food parcels for the local community when the club were asked to help out. James positivity knew no bounds and must surely be a lesson we all can learn from.
We his O'Raghallaighs family will always remember James as a fun loving caring kid who loved nothing more than being around the ones he loved. So James as you embark on your next journey we would like to say thank you for making our world a better place, you will always have a place in our hearts.
Colleagues at Centra in Mell where James worked also posted a touching tribute online writing: "With deepest regret out close colleague / friend James Lambe has sadly passed away today. You’ll be deeply missed always in our hearts, you’ll always be a big part of the centra Mell team.
"RIP Our Friend."
