Lout who sprinted across railway tracks after dodging fare and assaulting staff jailed

A fleeing fare-dodger who ran across the tracks after assaulting rail staff and an off-duty police office has been jailed for nearly half a year.

Aleksandrs Morozevics was caught on CCTV sprinting across live rails after attacking station workers.

He jumped onto the tracks after trying to run through a ticket barrier and avoid paying.

Terrifying footage on Birmingham Live shows the 40-year-old trying to escape at Northampton Train Station on September 9.

Witnesses desperately tried to warn Morozevics of the danger but he responded by hurling insults and a bag at them.

He was finally arrested and spat at three officers before he hit another two in the face.

Violent Morozevics was then handcuffed and taken to the cells.

He has now been jailed for 26 weeks after admitting ten offences at Northampton Magistrates' Court..

He admitted three counts of common assault against rail staff, one count of assault on the off-duty officer, and three counts of assault on the officers in custody.

PC Stuart Long, of the British Transport Police, said: “These were vicious and disgusting assaults on officers and staff.

“None were warranted, there was no provocation, and Morozevics had no other reason for his behaviour other than he’s a violent person.

“We work very closely with our colleagues in the rail industry and partner police forces – at no point will dealing with this behaviour be seen as just part of the job and we will always push to ensure offenders see the full consequences.”
