Lout shouted 'abhorrent' homophobic and racist abuse at police officers

A shameful lout shouted an "abhorrent" tirade of homophobic and racist abuse at police as they tried to arrest him.

Jon Hamblin's vile outburst of insults, which shocked the officers, was in full earshot of disgusted members of public.

A court heard that the 41-year-old called one constable a "f*****g f****t, "a p**f" and "a f*****g q***r" before branding another "a dirty p***i b*****d" and a "dirty f****g tribal c**t".

However, the disgusting rant has now landed Hamblin, of Stirling Drive, in North Shields, with a community order and fine after he pleaded guilty to one public order offence and a racially-aggravated public order offence.

Clare Irving, prosecuting at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court, said police were called to Hamblin's mother's address on the evening of May 24 this year after she rang them to report a domestic incident.

Ms Irving continued: "An area search is conducted of the back garden and an officer located the defendant in a hole in a wall outside his mother's property.

"He climbed out the wall and was cautioned and arrested for breach of the peace.

"He's asked to walk towards the police vehicle. He refuses. The officer is escorting the defendant to the police vehicle and he's taken on to a footpath and he's lunged towards them making an attempt to headbutt them.

"This results in the officers taking him to the ground. They keep him there. The plan was to keep him there until a police van arrived.

"He was also placed in a spit guard."

The court heard that Hamblin then launched into his homophobic and racists tirade.

In a statement, one officer said: "The behaviour showed by Hamblin on this day cannot and shouldn't be excused in anyway, shape or form, regardless of the excuses he will give.

"The language he used while looking directly at me was abhorrent."

The court heard that Hamblin, who has 59 offences on his record, had "lost it" because he was angry at the way he was arrested.

Stephen Moore, defending, added: "He would say he was rough-handled and fairly quickly the spit hood was on him.

"He lost it after that. He accepts he said things he shouldn't have said - it was a verbal tirade."
