Loungers wants former Marks and Spencer site in Llandudno

Restaurant and bar chain Loungers wants to take over a former Marks and Spencer site in North Wales.

The fast growing chain wants to move into a prominent unit on Llandudno high street.

It was home to the menswear department of Marks and Spencer but the site closed in February 2018.

The site has been empty since then with the department relocating to the main store just up the road on Mostyn Street.

Loungers wants to sub-divide the site and create an eating place.

A statement from D2 Planning said: "The unit has been vacant since M&S vacated on February 10 2018. The property has been marketed since then and no interest in retail has been received.

"The change of use would bring a long term empty unit back into use - adding to the vibrancy and vitality of this part of the town centre."

Loungers was founded in 2002 by a trio of long standing friends, Dave Reid, Alex Reilley and Jake Bishop after years in the restaurant and bar trade.

The chain has more than 100 venues across the UK, and says it offers a cafe, bar and restaurant experience with an eccentric cocktail menu and a wide range of food and drink.
