What’s Going To Happen
Can Louisiana stop the Georgia Southern ground game? Sort of.
The Ragin’ Cajuns were able to slow down Ohio last week on the road as part of a terrific three-game winning streak, and now it’s time to get the Sun Belt season rolling with showdowns against Appalachian State and Arkansas State up next.
The run D isn’t getting behind the line, but it’s doing just enough to hold teams down and keep them from taking over. On the flip side, forget the Eagle triple-option attack; Louisiana leads the Sun Belt in rushing.
Georgia Southern’s defense front has been outstanding at making big plays in the backfield, and the linebackers are tough and disciplined against the run. What the D can’t seem to do is hold on against anyone’s passing attack.
Louisiana’s Levi Lewis is just versatile enough to do a little of everything right, the ground game will control the clock, and very quietly, the team will make a bit of a statement that it deserves to be considered among the top Group of Five teams.
Georgia Southern can’t win without outrushing the Ragin’ Cajuns, and it won’t.
