Louisiana Tech returning an onside kick TD resulted in a terrible bad beat

Welcome to another Monday edition of the bad beat of the week. Last week, it was a meaningless touchdown from South Carolina against Alabama that torched bettors. The week before, it was the Redskins’ score with six seconds left against the Eagles.

This one was also meaningless, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t sting gamblers.

Louisiana Tech was up 36-31 against Florida International with under a minute left. FIU had a chance at recovering the onside kick. By many accounts, the spread had Louisiana Tech as seven-point favorites, so anyone who took the underdogs was excited by a possible back-door cover thanks to an Anthony Jones touchdown with 51 seconds left.

But look at what happened on that kick:
