Louise Redknapp admitted she was really hurt by haters' response to her 20-year marriage ending.
The mother-of-two, 45, said she was shocked online trolls freely hashed out their opinion on her divorce from Jamie, 46, which left her feeling "really hurt".
As a private person, the singer explained she found it difficult to deal with at what she divulged was a "very hard time" for her and her family.
Speaking at the GLAMOUR 's Manchester Beauty Festival, she said: "I was shocked by the level of haters. I have kept myself to myself, I was married for 20 years and it was very genuine, we worked hard and always kept ourselves to ourselves.
"What you see is what you get with me. It was a very hard time as there’s a lot of it you want to keep private to protect the people you love so I was really hurt by everyone having an opinion.
"I understand this job opens up for people to having an opinion but sometimes you go into a dog eat dog situation but keeping my children happy was my priority."
Louise and Jamie separated after 20 years of a "very genuine" marriage.
They continue to raise their sons Charley, 15, and Beau, 10, together since the separation.
The singer decided to change her life after Strictly Come Dancing put the "fire in her belly" in 2016.
After the demise of her marriage, Louise has gone onto secure leading roles in West End shows.
Her creative juices have been flowing as she released a new album after taking a musical hiatus.
Louise has hinted there is a new man in her life as she shared a cryptic message on her 45th birthday.
She posted lyrics from Ariana Grande's song Boyfriend: "I can't have what I want, but neither can you.
"You ain't my boyfriend/I ain't your girlfriend.
"But you don't want me to see nobody else/ And I don't want you to see nobody else."
It was claimed Louise had kissed former footballer turned model John Halls.
