Louise Redknapp says Jamie stopped her being pals with Cheryl and Coleen Rooney

Louise Redknapp has claimed her ex-husband stopped her being friends with fellow WAGs Cheryl and Coleen Rooney.

The former Eternal singer, 44, split with footballer Jamie Redknapp in 2017 after 19 years of marriage.

She was never spotted out on the tiles with Cheryl , who was married to Ashley Cole at the time, and Wayne Rooney's wife Coleen .

Louise explained Jamie didn't want her to make friends with other women married to footballers.

She said she kept herself to herself as Jamie thought his wife joining the WAG gang would start a 'circus' around his career.

Louise told the Guardian : "I think Jamie, being that slightly bit more old school, didn’t want any of that.

"His sport is what comes first, no circus around it. So I just kept to myself."

Louise, who shares son Charley, 14, and Beau, 10, with her ex, also said she has no plans to switch back to her maiden name.

She added: "It’s such a mum thing, but the thought of not having the same name as my kids, I could cry thinking about it.

"But maybe if Jamie gets married I’d have to change it … I don’t know how that works."

Louise famously moved out of the family home after starring in the 2016 series of Strictly Come Dancing because she was sick of being a 'Stepford Wife'.

Since then she has relaunched her career, starring in West End musical 9 to 5 and releasing a new solo album.

Louise recently denied that it was her stint on Strictly that ended her marriage, but admitted it 'put the fire back in [her] belly'.

She said after so long together, it would take more than taking part in the show to break them up.
