Louise Redknapp 's mum had no idea the singer's split from husband Jamie would be permanent.
The former Eternal singer and the ex-footballer divorced in 2017 and he's since remarried Swedish model Frida Andersson and welcomed a son with her.
But Louise, 47, who shares sons Charley, 17, and Beau, 13, with Jamie, says her mum would have never foreseen it.
Speaking on Steve Anderson's Such A Good Feeling podcast, she looked back on a heart to heart she'd had with mer mum Lynne.
The conversation came about after Steve asked the singer and actress what had inspired the lyrics to her 2019 song Breaking Back Together, from her album Heavy Love.
Louise said that while staying at her mum's "tiny little house" with her sons following the break up, Lynne assured her that "everything was gonna be alright".
The star said: "She said to me, 'You know what Lou, sometimes you have to break to come back together. You are going to have to accept that this isn't gonna go away overnight'."
She said the idea of breaking up and getting back together hit home with her and inspired her to write the lyrics to the song.
Louise recently hit back at claims she was in "secret despair" after Jamie welcomed his new baby.
Speaking out online, she wrote: "I try not to read or respond to these things but sometimes they are unavoidable. I’d really love to clarify that “Louise” is not in despair or anything like it!!
"I have my two gorgeous boys that I adore more than anything in the world, the best family around me and I’m having the time of my life with my career and with the most wonderful friends that a girl could hope for.
"I’d like to make it clear that I’m in the most positive of headspace and loving my life. Here’s to all the ladies out there that are in control of their lives and living their very best lives!"
Jamie and Frida married in October and welcomed baby boy Raphael last month.
As well as Jamie's two sons with Louise, the blended family also includes Frida's four children from a previous marriage.
