Louise Redknapp rules out Peppa Pig collaboration after £1million legal battle

Louise Redknapp says she felt “honoured” that Peppa Pig ripped off her song – but ruled out a collaboration as her sons would be mortified.

The Mirror revealed last week how the star was at the centre of a £1million legal battle between Peppa and the songwriters behind 1996 hit Naked.

Talking publicly about it for the first time, she admitted: “I felt quite honoured. Someone said to me, ‘Do you recognise this song?’ I was like, ‘I’m not quite sure’, and then it clicked.”

Although her two sons Charles and Beau support her music, duetting with Peppa Pig would be a step too far.

Louise said: “I think my kids would have an issue. They’re both teenagers.”

The track that caused all the commotion, Peppa’s Party Time, featured on the show’s album, Peppa Pig: My First Album, which was released in July last year.

The Naked songwriters launched a legal campaign against the Canadian company Entertainment One. They claimed that Peppa’s Party Time constituted an infringement of copyright.

Sources said that the company settled, meaning Naked’s composers are now entitled backdated and any future royalties.

Louise was speaking at the Gatsby Gala in aid of prematurity research at Imperial College London in the Bloomsbury Ballroom where she also performed a string of her hits.

The songstress, 45, hinted that Heavy Love's more heartfelt, emotional tunes found inspiration in the aftermath of her split from ex-husband Jamie.

The pair announced they were calling time on their marriage back in 2017, having tied the knot in 1998.

They share two sons, 15 year old Charley and 11 year old Beau.

Louise, who rocketed to fame as part of girlband Eternal, told the Mirror: "As a songwriter, you can only write what you're feeling and what's going on in your life.

"It's well documented that it's been a tough few years for me. I tried to be as honest as I could without hurting anyone else."

The recently released Heavy Love contains heartbreaking tracks such as Breaking Back Together and Hurt.

Her latest work hasn't been a solo venture, though, as she told how Charley and Beau had a hand in her latest offering.
