Louise Redknapp dropped a major hint that her ex-husband Jamie now feels like a “stranger” as she shared heart-rending lyrics from her latest single.
The 44-year-old provided her Instagram followers with a sneak peek at the lyrics for her new song Small Talk, which appears to describe the aftermath of a relationship.
Louise, who parted ways with her footballer ex in 2017 after nearly 20 years of marriage, posted a short extract from the track which read: “We used to be in love, we used to be inseparable, now it’s a little awkward…
“It’s like we’ve never met before. It’s almost like we’re strangers. Remember when we had it all, we used to dream big, but now it’s just… small talk.”
The singer’s fans immediately began to speculate over the track’s not-so hidden meaning, with one follower writing: “Sounds like you miss Jamie.”
“If the words are reference to Jamie then get back together you only have one true love in yr life and life is too short be happy be together be a family again,” another suggested.
“Go get him back you two belong with each other,” a third said.
Others said that they could “relate” to the feeling that Louise’s lyrics described, with one fan adding: “I’ve been trying to describe this feeling for a few months now. This is exactly it!”
Discussing the break-up in a recent interview with Radio 4’s Women’s Hour, Louise said that it had been “tough” to navigate her split.
“Going through a divorce, it being so public. It’s tough,” she revealed.
“No one can take that easily, it’s not an easy thing for women or men or anyone to go through. And you rely on your friends, so my girlfriends have been my rock.”
She previously revealed that she and Jamie remain on good terms, telling Heart Radio: “He’s my best friend. It’s been really tough but things happen.”
The pair tied the knot on a luxury yacht in Bermuda in 1998 and share two sons, Charley and Beau.
Louise filed for divorce in 2017, saying that the marriage had irretrievably broken down due to her husband’s ‘unreasonable behaviour.”
