Louise Redknapp has 'no regrets' about being so honest amid Jamie marriage breakdown

Louise Redknapp has made headlines for her very public struggle in the face of her ex-husband Jamie Redknapp moving on with his now-wife Swedish model Frida Andersson-Lourie after she left him.

The former Eternal star, 48, has admitted that she wished she'd paused and thought through her decision to leave her 20 year marriage, which she decided to end after appearing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2016.

Louise later shared that she was left so overwhelmed by the break-up that she considered taking her own life.

Reflecting on her decision to share her grief in a string of interviews and her book You’ve Got This: And Other Things I Wish I Had Known, Louise now says she has no regrets about making her experience public.

"I’m good with what I said," she told The Sun's Fabulous magazine. "I think you have to be honest, otherwise just don’t do it. And it was all about me, not anyone else. Some people love it, some people hate it. I didn’t say anything that I haven’t said in my songs in a roundabout way.

“I don’t regret anything. We don’t always get it right in life – especially me. We all need to sit down and take stock a little bit. I found it hard being so personal, because I try to keep myself away from the glare as much as possible."

Elsewhere in the interview, Louise insists that she tires to 'take each day as it comes' and says she has 'no expectations in life.'

The singer then praised her supportive friendship circle who she said had got her through the good times and the bad in recent months.

The interview is the first time Louise has spoken out since her husband of 19 years Jamie tied the knot with his pregnant partner Frieda last month.

Following the nuptials, Louise sad she is focussing on spending time with sons Charley, 16, and Beau, 12, as well as on her busy work schedule which currently sees her performing in West End musical 9 to 5.

While football pundit Jamie may have moved on, Louise says she is happy to remain single for the time being.

Despite her firm stance, the star says her two boys are encouraging her to go out and date but she insists finding love again is 'not a priority.'

“It sounds basic, but I’ve got two things that are really important to me right now: my kids, because I want to be a solid part of their life, and my work," she revealed.

Louise and Jamie’s split came in 2017 just months after the Eternal singer reached the finals in her stint on Strictly Come Dancing.

When the pair met, Louise was hugely successful in the music business, while Jamie was playing as a Premier League footballer.

While Jamie’s career continued to thrive as a pundit after his playing days and on shows such as A League Of Their Own, Louise had turned her back on the celebrity lifestyle to focus on raising her family.

Her spell on Strictly gave her a new lease of confidence and she enjoyed her return to the stage.

She previously said the show had made her “re-evaluate her life” and that she had grown tired of being a “Stepford wife”.
