Louise Redknapp admits she 'bares her soul' over Jamie 'heartbreak' on album

Louise Redknapp has admitted that she was "heartbroken" over ex Jamie while she was writing her new album Heavy Love.

The 45-year-old said that she was nervous ahead of the release of her new album as she had "bared her soul" in her writing.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain today, Louise described it as "very personal".

Speaking to Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard, Louise said: "I wrote this album over a two-year period. It’s a very personal album.

"I never thought I’d do music again, so being here in the position where I’ve just released an album after 20 years… not only does it mean the world and I’ve kind of bared my heart and soul a little bit on this album… you don’t want to fail.”

She added: "I was so fortunate to have success twenty years ago with everything that you just want to keep the momentum going and you kind of want to do what you love. You need to sell records to do what you love, so yeah, I’m nervous, but excited as well.

Louise said that her two sons, Charley and Beau, have loved seeing her go back to singing again.

"Do you know, it’s been lovely for them," she said. "There’s been lots of things said in papers that they don’t like me wearing the leotard and it’s all in good jest. The kids are so understanding of what the industry is, but what’s been so lovely is them being able to come to live gigs, coming to the studio.

"Actually, I recorded about 50 songs for this album and we came down to the 15 for the deluxe one and they played such a big part in saying what they felt. I really involved them in it.

Probed by Susanna on the personal aspect of her album, Louise insisted that there was "no kind of narrative on the album".

However she conceded that her emotions had influenced her songwriting.

"[Some] days you feel slightly heartbroken and that comes out in the music," she said. "I'm really proud of what I've done, it takes a lot of guts."
