Louise Minchin opens up about husband's devastating cancer battle on Tipping Point

Ex-BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin revealed her husband's cancer fight during her appearance on the celebrity version of Tipping Point as she tried to win money for the charity who supported him. The former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! contestant said that her partner David was diagnosed with the disease when he was 28.

Appearing on ITVs Tipping Point: Lucky Stars, which aired on Sunday, April 10, she played to try and secure money to support Move, an organisation which helps people cope with cancer. She joined Michelle Ackerley and Josh Widdicombe on the game show and the television presenter became the second star to be eliminated from the game.

But Louise made it to the second round of the game and went head-to-head with Josh to get to the final round. However, she answered several questions incorrectly meaning she didn’t get the chance to win as many counters from the machine as she hoped.

As a result, Louise was eliminated from the show but still took £2,600 home for her charity. Host Ben Shepherd said: “Louise, sadly we have found your Tipping Point but the good news is you’ve won £2600 for your charity. Can you tell us what it is?”

“Oh thank you so much for that,” Louise replied. “You’ve already heard I’m a bit passionate about exercise.

“This charity is called Move and it works with people who are suffering with cancer or affected by cancer to get them moving. My husband had cancer when he was 28 so he would have very much benefitted from a charity like this.

“That’s where the money is going.”

Ben responded: “What a fantastic charity and I’m thrilled you’ve come to play. Louise Minchin everybody!”

Fans of the show took to Twitter to share their thoughts as she began to chime into the answers ahead of time, leaving her contestants in the dust.

One fan said: "Louise buzzed in far too soon klaxon!" Another added: "Finishes reading the question after the klaxon!"

Josh Widdicombe made the most of his spot in the final and left with a whopping £20,000 for his chosen charity.
