Louis Walsh slams axed Xpose and says it was a 'silly fashion show'

Louis Walsh reckons Virgin Media was right to axe Xpose because it turned into “a fashion f***ing show".

He said: “Xpose was axed? I didn’t know it was still on to be honest.

“I like them and it was great at the start but it turned into a fashion f***ing show.

“And I don’t want to see people putting on makeup and doing their hair and nails, I want backstage stories about music and movies.

“But it turned into a silly fashion show, it was silly. It was just a turn off.”

However, crediting Xpose front woman Glenda Gilson, who he worked with on Ireland’s Got Talent, he added: “But I love Glenda, I think she’s brilliant but she is in the wrong country.

“She’s so enthusiastic and so great at what she does.”

The Mayo man, who is set to judge and present a brand new award at the Beauty Blog Awards sponsored by TanOrganic titled ‘Influencers Got Talent’ next month said he is going to be sifting out the wannabes from the real talent.

He said: “I don’t follow any of them but I am going to have an opinion because I want people who care and know what they are talking to win as opposed to those who want to be famous.”

The former X Factor judge also branded the axing of Ireland’s Got Talent as a ‘disgrace’ and said Virgin Media have made a massive mistake with the move.

However, the pop band boss, who is returning to Simon Cowell’s side with the Celebrity X Factor next week claimed the broadcaster made the right decision to get rid of Xpose, dubbing the programme “a silly fashion show”.

The 67-year-old Westlife boss told the Irish Daily Mirror: “I think it is a disgrace. It was the best, let’s do a little rant on this now, it was the best Irish talent show ever.

“We had the best fun and I missed the fun more than anything but there will never be another show like it and Virgin Media or ITV3 whatever they are called they will never have a show like this again.”

When asked if he thinks the show will ever return, he added: “I don’t know but they made a mistake.

“But anyway, I’m not on that but I’m on the biggest show in the UK and Michelle is on the biggest show in the UK so she’s brilliant, we are friends and I think she’ll do great.”

But having signed up to the X Factor for two versions, a celebrity one and another format involving all-stars from previous shows later this year, he said he would have no interest in rejoining.

He said: “If Michelle and Lucy did but they are not going to get these people again because everyone has moved on.”
