Louis van Gaal opens up on who he blames more than Jose Mourinho for Man Utd sacking

Louis van Gaal blames "evil genius" Ed Woodward for his Manchester United sacking - more than he does Jose Mourinho.

Van Gaal was relieved of his duties at Old Trafford just two weeks after he delivered the FA Cup in 2016, and replaced by Mourinho.

Portuguese coach Mourinho making his availability known fast-tracked the decision from the United board.

And while Van Gaal blames Mourinho for his sacking, he has a bigger problem with United's executive vice chairman Woodward, who he dubbed an "evil genius".

"I blame Ed Woodward, my CEO at Manchester United, much more than Mourinho," Van Gaal told the Een-tweetje met Yves podcast.

"In my view, Woodward is the evil genius."

Prior to becoming Manchester United boss, Val Gaal was in talks with Tottenham, and even held a meeting with Spurs chairman Dany Levy.

Such was Levy's wish to keep the negotiations secret, Van gaal claims he left his house in the boot of a vehicle.

"Daniel Levy went to my house here in Noordwijk and left in the trunk, because Jack van Gelder [a local journalist] was outside", Van Gaal added.

"It took a long time and he actually gave Manchester United the opportunity to make an offer."
