Louis Tomlinson praised for pausing show so 'fan could be carried out after collapsing'

Louis Tomlinson has been praised for pausing his gig, reportedly so one of his fans could be carried out to safety.

The former One Direction singer, 30, is currently on the American leg of his solo tour, and was playing a concert in Washington when the incident is said to have occurred.

In footage shared on Twitter, the dad-of-one can be seen stopping his performance so a fan in the crowed who had apparently passed out could be carried out of The Anthem venue.

"If you can, just back it up a little bit – from the front row, everyone," Louis can be heard saying in the video.

"Come on, it’s a team effort, this, it’s a team effort."

Louis continues to entertain the crowed as he urges them to move back.

"One more step for me, last one," the singer says to a cheering crowd.

"Now we need to get back on with the show," he declares once the situation was under control.

The safety-conscious star then added: "If anybody needs any water they’re on the sides at all times, okay?"

Writer Scott Wise shared the footage on Friday, captioning the first of several clips: "Louis Tomlinson just paused his DC concert so a fan could be carried out. Now staff is distributing water."

He added: "A second pause so security can distribute water to fans in distress at the Louis Tomlinson show at the Anthem in Washington. D.C.."

Fans rushed to praise Louis for showing concern for his fans and ensure the crowd at the American venue was safe.

"The right thing to do, he is really very lovely man," one wrote in reply to the clip, with another adding: "He's such a good man."

Another seemed to imply they knew the fan in question when tweeting the star directly.

"All I can say after tonight is god bless @Louis_Tomlinson Thank you for stopping the show for my kid," the tweet read.

"She had a massive anxiety attack because of the people around her not giving her space when she asked for it. She didn’t mean for you to stop the show."

In a statement shared with The Mirror on Wednesday, a representative for the venue said: "It was a happy, well-behaved crowd. We’re used to large audiences and there was nothing about this evening that was extraordinary."

They added: "The artist is accustomed to taking breaks mid show and this allowed us to remind everyone to stay hydrated and we provided free water to patrons."

Louis has been enjoying his recent tour of America, regularly posting updates on his social media platform.

Friday night's footage comes just weeks after Louis stopped another performance to offer water to a fan who had fainted in the crowd.

The Two of Us singer was performing in the second show of his 2022 world tour in Austin, Texas, when he paused proceedings to check a fan was OK, before going on to offer her his own water to drink.
