Leaked audio being circulated online purportedly shows a One Direction fan telling Louis Tomlinson she wants his baby son to die.
In the audio, a female voice with an American accident is heard telling Tomlinson: “I hope your baby dies.
“Did you really just say that?” Tomlinson, audibly shocked, is heard asking.
He went on: “Because luckily for you I've got you on record here so that's going to go straight to my lawyer and we'll find out who it is.”
The caller then immediately began to apologise before the audio came to an end.
The audio prompted an outcry from One Direction fans, with the hashtag #RespectLouis trending.
LA-based stylist Briana Jungworth gave birth to Tomlinson’s son Freddie in January. She was hit by online abuse after giving birth and branded her treatment by One Direction fans “sickening”.
Both Ms Jungworth and Tomlinson have also been targeted by bizarre fan theories claiming their son is not real.
Representatives for Tomlinson declined to comment.
