Louis Tomlinson breaks silence on teenage sister's tragic drugs death after heartbreaking year

Louis Tomlinson has opened up for the first time about the death of his sister Félicité Tomlinson.

Félicité died of an at her London flat in March at the age of 18.

Her death became the second tragedy in two years for the Tomlinson family, who lost mum Johannah to cancer in 2016, when she was 42.

"That whole dark side I've gone through, it sounds stupid to say, but it gives me strength everywhere else in my life, because that's the darkest s**t that I'm going to have to deal with," Louis told The Guardian's G2.

"So it makes everything else, not feel easier and not less important, but, in the grand scheme of things, you see things for what they are, I suppose," said Louis.

After rising to fame on the X Factor in 2010, Louis and his four bandmates were propelled to global fame - meaning he's had to live some of his lowest moments in the spotlight.

But Louis, now 27, revealed one of his biggest comforts in getting through the pain of the last 12 months has been his ever loyal fan base.

"We've been through some dark times together and those things I've been through, they carry a weight," said Louis. "And I felt their love and support. I remember really clearly when I lost my mum, that support was mad."

When Johannah died leaving behind seven children, as the eldest, Louis found himself head of the family.

He says he had no time to sit around feeling sorry for himself and the last thing he wants is pity.

Louis said he had no time to sit around feeling sorry for himself, as he became head of the family after his mother lost her battle with leukaeima.

He described his mum's death as his 'rock bottom' but says the loss made him feel stronger. "Whatever my career's going to throw in front of me, it's going to be nothing as big or as emotionally heavy as that."

Louis had stuck to his commitments and performed his first ever solo single Just Hold On live at the X Factor in 2106 just a few days after losing his mum.

He later channelled his grief into ballad Two Of Us, which was released the same month as Félicité's fatal overdose.

Following his emotional performance on The X Factor, Louis' former mentor Simon Cowell told him: " What you’ve just done… the bravery… I respect you as an artist and I respect you as a person.

"Your mum was so proud of you, Louis, she was so looking forward to tonight, she’s watching down on you now and you’ve done her proud."
