Louis Theroux is releasing a new BBC documentary series about his own career.
The four-part series, titled Louis Theroux: Life On The Edge, will see the investigative reporter look back over his 25-year career at the stories that have impacted him the most.
The episodes will feature new interviews with Theroux and some of his most memorable contributors, many of whom have seen their stories grow immeasurably since first meeting him.
Life On The Edge also will see home video and archival news footage cut together to show how the world has changed across his three decades in front of the camera.
Speaking about the show, Theroux said: “For years I’ve wanted to go back and make sense of the programmes I’ve made, find out what happened to some of the contributors, update their stories, and see what all these many hours of making TV might add up to.
“Lockdown gave me the time and space to do this… I think we’ve been able to make the whole add up to more than the sum of the parts and to bring out surprising themes and commonalities. And, if nothing else, it was an interesting review of how my haircuts and glasses have changed over the years.”
The 50-year-old presenter released his first BBC documentary series, Louis Theroux’s Weird Weekends, from 1998 to 2000, with the series seeing Theroux meet born-again Christians, survivalists and people who believe in UFOs.
During lockdown, Theroux has also released his first podcast, Grounded with Louis Theroux.
