Louis Theroux launches first podcast series from coronavirus lockdown

Louis Theroux plans on keeping the nation entertained during the coronavirus lockdown with the launch of his first podcast.

The documentary maker will turn his video interview skills to the audio form as the host of Grounded With Louis Theroux, a radio show and podcast being broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and the BBC Sounds app.

The show will see Theroux virtually interview a host of famous faces from lockdown and is made in conjunction with his new production company, Mindhouse Productions.

Starting with So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed writer Jon Ronson, whose episode drops on Monday 27 April, the investigative journalist will interview stars including Lenny Henry, Miriam Margolyes and Boy George throughout the series of weekly episodes.

It will be the first time Theroux has profiled celebrities since his series When Louis Met...began 20 years ago, during which he famously interviewed Max Clifford and Jimmy Saville.

Speaking about the audio series, Theroux said:  “I’ve really loved doing these interviews. It’s been a chance to speak to people I admire and have in depth conversations with them, about their lives, their careers, and their most intimate feelings.

He continued: “Making a podcast and radio series is very different to my usual way of working. And for that reason, I’ve found it very fun and refreshing.”
