Louis Theroux cuts off top of his finger during horror cooking accident

Louis Theroux was left bandaged up after suffering a cooking accident.

The documentary maker, 49, took to Instagram on Saturday evening to reveal he'd cut off the top of his finger while chopping an onion.

He shared a picture of his injury all wrapped up as he pulled a sad face for the camera looking very sorry for himself.

Louis explained that he'd been following Jamie Oliver's recipe for carrot and coriander pancakes when he had the accident.

The dad-of-three captioned the post: "Cut a small slice of my finger off while chopping a red onion for a Jamie Oliver recipe for carrot and coriander pancakes."

The accident came as a shock and he admitted he had to have a lie down afterwards.

Louis continued: "Briefly went pale and had to lie down.

"Family not impressed by my lack of stoicism. Me too frankly.

"Still haven't found the missing piece of finger."

The fact that he managed to post a selfie seems to suggest he is recovering well from his accident.

Louis has found himself in the headlines again lately thanks to the Netflix series Tiger King.

He was one of the first to interview to the show's leading man Joe Exotic.

Tiger King follows Joe as he ran his zoo full of big cats before he was eventually arrested and jailed for animal cruelty and murder for hire.

Louis interviewed Joe before his imprisonment for America's Most Dangerous Pets in 2011.
