Louis Saha pinpoints Manchester United communication problem

Louis Saha believes Manchester United need better leadership and better communication as they look for a reaction to their Liverpool humiliation.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and a number of United players have come in for criticism in the wake of the 5-0 defeat by Liverpool, with Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and others speaking out after the game.

But Saha, the former United striker, has slammed the players for "nice comments" in the media and pinpointed a communication problem at Old Trafford right now.

The Frenchman played for United under Sir Alex Ferguson, who was renowned for his "hairdryer treatment" in the dressing room after mistakes or defeats.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Saha said: "What I'm seeing from outside is always easy, but I look at the kind of characters and I look at the United side and think 'when everything is going strong, it's perfect'. But when things are difficult and a bit tough — they have come up with some good comebacks lately — but still I don't feel like there is shouting. Their expressions in their body is conflicting.

"And I feel very uncomfortable about that. Obviously the way of communicating has changed and moved on, but in those moments there is a need for a really big reaction.

"You need characters. You need those who have leadership to show it, not just by saying nice comments in the press — that's not enough."

United are looking to bounce back when they take on Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
