Louis Saha explains 'guarantees' Cristiano Ronaldo brings to Manchester United after transfer

Louis Saha has described Cristiano Ronaldo as an 'amazing signing' and believes he will guarantee certain things at Manchester United.

The Portugal captain returned to the club after 12 years away after signing a two-year United deal, with the option of an extra year to leave Juventus after three seasons in Serie A.

Ronaldo left the club in 2009 after six years having won three Premier League titles, a Champions League, two League Cups and a Ballon d'Or, before scoring 450 goals in 438 games for Real Madrid, and 101 goals in 134 games for Juventus since.

Now former teammate Saha, who was speaking on Sky Sports on deadline day, believes his return will not only benefit some younger players but also guarantee Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has an example to point towards in the squad.

"I think United did well with their two previous signings," he said. "They have managed to surprise us with someone no one expected them to sign, but it’s great.

"He’s going to provide a guarantee with fighting spirit, team spirit, and the goals he’s going to score from his dedication. He will provide a benchmark to those younger lads, the likes of Greenwood, Rashford, Martial; all those players will benefit from that. It’s great and it’s an amazing signing."

Now 36, Ronaldo is deemed to be in the twilight of his career but as he continues to prove his doubters wrong with consistent brilliant performances Saha feels he's still one of the best in the world.

He added: "I’m sure he’s got a really strong routine which is why he’s still at the top at 36. He will bring this dedication and a benchmark to younger players. At the same time, he will bring a lot of attention from everyone around the world."

Ronaldo is expected to make his second debut for the club against Newcastle on September 11th at Old Trafford, after representing Portugal during the international break against Republic of Ireland, Qatar and Azerbaijan.
