Motherwell boss Graham Alexander refused to be drawn on speculation linking striker Louis Moult with a return to the club, but said they're "always interested in good players".
The 29-year-old was snapped up at Preston North End from Motherwell by then-boss Alex Neil in 2018, but after an injury-ravaged three years, the hit man was released by Neil's successor Frankie McAvoy.
Moult was a hero at Motherwell from 2015-18, netting 50 goals in 95 appearances.
Alexander said: "I'm always interested in good players, regardless of whether they have a great history with our club or not.
"I know of Louis's abilities and everything, I know he's had a tough time over the last couple of seasons with injury and so forth, but once we get beyond [the final Premiership game against Ross County on] Sunday, we'll be really getting down to the business of trying to improve our team.
"Any good player that's available is under consideration for us, so I don't think it's right that I go and talk about any individuals, whether they're attached or unattached, because there is a lot of time between identifying someone and actually bringing him in, or having the opportunity to do that.
"But we're interested in every good player that's out there that can help us win games."
Alexander anticipates a busy summer as he rebuilds his squad, with captain Declan Gallagher moving to Aberdeen and midfield ace Allan Campbell leaving at the end of the season.
"I think it will be a busy summer. It will be a short one but it will be busy, because we have to try and improve the team and the squad," he said.

"There will be players going through their own choices, as we know, and other players who will go on to pastures new, to try and find regular football.
"I think we've got just over a team of players who are under contract for next season, and we will have to add to that, because it's important to start the season well and we need strength in depth."
Alexander says losing some top players will be difficult because of their quality, but them as people, too.
He said: "It's always difficult losing good players, certainly players you would love to keep, who have been successful for you as a manager, been successful for the club, and I think it's always sad to see people go.
"But on the other side of it, you want them to go on and do good things, because you get to know them, you understand they're top pros and great lads, so there's that side of it as well.
"There's not a lot of consistency in squads over the course of four or five seasons at any level, and Motherwell over the last 10 to 15 years have had to let a lot of good players go eventually, either because they're out of contract or being bought.

"It's par for the course, really, but that's the little bit of frustration for me, because I've got to know these guys really well and really enjoyed my time with them, but it's coming to an end with some of them after Sunday.
"There are certainly some of those boys that I will miss."
