Loudmouth Jamie O'Hara dismisses Rangers 'meaningless' title wins as pundit claims Phil Foden 'better than Gazza'

Outspoken talkSPORT pundit Jamie O'Hara feels Manchester City kid Phil Foden is a better player than Rangers legend Paul Gascoigne - and claimed the Englishman's titles in Scotland "mean nothing".

Gazza won two league championships at Ibrox, scoring a hat-trick against Aberdeen on the final day of the 95/96 season and was a mainstay in the team that clinched Nine In A Row the following term.

O'Hara waxed lyrical over the young Foden after an excellent display against Borussia Dortmund helped his side into the semi-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday night.

And the former Hull midfielder, who claims Gazza was his hero growing up, is adamant the youngster is even better than the World Cup semi-finalist.

He said: “Watching him this season he’s really come to the fore and made himself one of the top three players at Manchester City.

“I was looking at it thinking, and I know people always compare him to Gascoigne, but I look at Foden and think he’s better than Gascoigne.

“I know that’s a big statement, but it’s just in terms of the way he’s going in his career and the way he plays. He’s doing it on the big stage already and he’s just a kid.

“And to do it at Manchester City in a Pep Guardiola team and to be so young and dominating games – two winners in two legs in a huge fixture.

“I just think he’s better than Gazza. For me, Gazza was my idol growing up. he won the FA Cup, he won the Scottish Premiership – we all know that doesn’t count as it means nothing.”

O’Hara continued: “He offers so much to the team. The way he carries the ball and runs through the pitch – and that’s what I loved about Gazza.

“He picks the ball up and he’s not frightened to go pass people.

“Gazza had this aura about him and everyone loves him because of what he is and any young star that England produce is always compared to him.

“I just look at Foden and think he is better, he is better."
