July 15--Better be careful before airing your "first world" complaints on Facebook. Customer service might get you.
That is, "Customer Service" a troll Facebook account set up by comedians Ben Palmer and Nick Price to respond to customers who air their gripes on company Facebook pages, according to Nextshark.com.
Their snarky responses to the grievances of customers posted on corporate Facebook pages are often mistaken for a legitimate and hilariously mean responses to real complaints.
The group has collected its replies on wehopethathelps.com, which is named for how they typically end their responses.
Consider one of the latest, posted earlier this week from a customer named Julia to Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen:
"Hey Popeyes, how about you get up to speed with modern day technology and allow me to use coupons on my phone instead of making me print them off."
To which "Customer Service" responded: "How about you buy a sandwich for regular price like everybody else. Hope this helps."
The page also took on Wal-Mart customers who complained about the retailer's decision to stop selling merchandise bearing the Confederate flag:
From a consumer named Misty to Wal-Mart: "If you ban this flag I will NEVER do business with you again! And I spend a LOT of money with ur store. Learn your history before you do something that stupid!!"
The response from "Customer Service": We're Wal-Mart, we don't need your business, nor do we care if you don't like us anymore. We're removing the flag from our store and if you have a problem with it, then go buy them from another store. Buy a bunch of them. Light them on fire, and then jump in. We'll all be better off. Hope that helps."
Ouch.
