Lotus Says the Emira Will Be Even Better to Drive for 2026

Although Lotus only began selling the Emira in the United States last year, the automaker is already improving the sports car. The Emira debuted in 2021 and went on sale in some parts of the world in 2022. For 2026, Lotus has made several technical upgrades that enhance its track performance while improving daily comfort.

All new Emiras feature rerouted cooling system lines that improve flow to the transmission oil cooler and main radiator. The new piping also lowers the vehicle's weight, which is always a win. Lotus also recalibrated the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission for smoother, quicker shifts. There are also two new colors: EOS Green and Purple Haze metallic.

The V-6-powered Emira also receives some upgrades. It's now called the V6 SE, and it's the model's new flagship. The 3.5-liter supercharged V-6 is the same as before, producing 400 horsepower, but Lotus optimized the dampers and made "subtle adjustments in wheel alignment" for better handling and comfort.

The six-speed manual transmission is standard in the Emira V6 SE, and Lotus said it's improved its shift quality with a new compression mount for the gearbox. The company says the upgrade will result in "more precise gear changes."

The Emira Turbo, the model's entry point, features the same Mercedes-AMG-sourced four-cylinder turbocharged engine as the Turbo SE. It also has the newly refined eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The Lotus Emira Turbo starts at £79,500 ($107,969 at today's exchange rate), while the V6 SE costs £96,500 ($131,057). Order books are now open, with the updated sports car set to begin arriving in showrooms in September. Motor1 has reached out to Lotus to see when US customers can expect the updated Emira to go on sale Stateside.
