Lotto players in Sligo urged to check tickets from historical €19m draw as huge prize unclaimed

Lotto players in one Irish county have been urged to check their tickets dating back to a January draw as a prize of over €35,000 has gone unclaimed.

The National Lottery are appealing to Lotto players in Sligo to check their tickets carefully from the draw that took place on Saturday January 15 as no one has come forward to claim a Match 5 + Bonus prize worth €36,687.

The draw is likely to have stuck in people's minds as it marked the highly anticipated ‘Will be Won’ event in which a player in Mayo won the largest jackpot ever seen in the Lotto game in Ireland.

As the Lotto jackpot was capped at €19.06 million, the funds that would usually go to the jackpot flowed down to the next highest tier at which there was a winner and in that historic draw, this was the Match 5 + Bonus prize tier.

An incredible 149 players all over Ireland shared an astonishing prize fund of almost €5.5 million at the Match 5+Bonus prize tier to win €36,687 each.

The Sligo Match 5+Bonus winner purchased their ticket on the day of the draw in the Mace store at the Hilltop Service Station in Culleens, Co. Sligo.

As ticketholders have 90 days from the draw date to claim their prize, the Sligo winner has just three weeks left to come forward, with the deadline of close of business on Friday April 15 fast approaching.

The winning Lotto numbers for the draw in question were: 02, 09, 16, 30, 37, 40 and the bonus 23.

A National Lottery spokesperson has appealed to Lotto players in Sligo to check their old tickets from the January draw as soon as possible to ensure that they do not miss out on this €36,687 prize.

They said: “Saturday 15th January was an historic date for the Lotto game. A player in Mayo became the largest Lotto jackpot winner ever seen in the game after winning the life-changing amount of €19.06 million. Due to the capped Lotto jackpot, the funds that would usually go to the jackpot flowed down to the next highest tier at which there was a winner and in that particular draw, this was the Match 5 + Bonus tier. We saw 149 players from 26 counties win €36,687 each after matching five numbers and the bonus.”

“We are hoping to hear from the Sligo Match 5 + Bonus winner who purchased their ticket on the day of the draw in the Mace store at the Hilltop Service Station in Culleens, Co. Sligo. The lucky winner is yet to come forward to claim their prize and has just three weeks left until the claim deadline which is close of business on Friday 15th April. We are advising the winner to sign the back of their ticket, which is now worth €36,687, and to keep it safe. The ticket holder should make contact with our prize claims team immediately on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for them to claim their prize.”
