Lotto chiefs urge punters to check 'glove boxes, cupboards, and old jacket pockets' for €3.8million jackpot winning tickets

Lotto chiefs urge punters to check 'glove boxes, cupboards, and old jacket pockets' for tickets after €7.7million jackpot won.

The winnings have been split between two Dublin shops with the lucky punters receiving a juicy €3,886,999 each.

Winners have come from both the north and south side of the city with Circle K filling station in Kilmainham in Dublin 8 selling one ticket, while the other was bought in Dunnes Stores in Donaghmede, Dublin 13.

Punters are encouraged to check everywhere for the potential winning tickets with the winners yet to come forward.

Robert Magee, from the National Lottery, told IrishMirror.ie: "We are asking all of our players who shop, play lotto, or get their fuel in Circle K in Kilmainham to check your tickets very carefully.

"Check your car, glove boxes, any sort of cupboard you leave them in at home, or your old jacket pockets.

"I can't stress how important it is to check them tickets and hopefully we'll be hearing from the winners sooner rather than later."

Champagne was flowing as both locations celebrated the huge win but the lucky punters are encouraged to remain calm when discovering the winning ticket.

Magee said: "If it does happen to be you, stay calm, sign the back of the ticket as soon as you can and contact the number on the back of that and contact our national lottery prize claims team and we will arrange for you to come and collect your prize when you are good and ready."

He added: "It's the first Lotto jackpot of the new decade and when it comes to prizes like this which are multimillion euro worth it is fantastic to deal with the winners.

"So when they come in to the winners room you get all sorts in there.

People are really excited, some people are really nervous, because it really is a life changing sum of money.

"What our role is to guide them the best they can and to guide them through the claim process and make sure it sets them up for their family's future."

The winning Lotto numbers are: 01, 03, 20, 22, 39, 44 and the bonus number was 16.

It's the first Lotto jackpot won in 2020 and it is the first time the Lotto jackpot has been shared since May 2017 when a €12.3 million Lotto jackpot was shared between two players in Donegal and Westmeath.
