Lotto bosses urge punters in Cavan to check tickets as player was number off scooping EuroMillions jackpot

Lotto bosses are urging punters in Cavan and Dublin to check their tickets after two Irish players won monster prizes in Tuesday's EuroMillions.

One of the punters was just one number off scooping the €17million.

They'll have to settle for the sweet sum of €256,142 after buying their ticket Hannigan’s Bar & Grocery, Cootehill Town. The player match five numbers and one lucky star.

Owner Sean Hannigan said: “The whole town has gone absolutely mad since word got out about the win.

"Because we have a bar and grocery store, locals would have known about the win since last night so there’s a lot of excitement and a lot of celebrating going on in the town this morning, it’s absolutely incredible."

The winning digits for the main draw were 10, 11, 24, 36, 45 and the lucky stars were 03 and 05.

Meanwhile, a shop in the capital was celebrating after one of its customers claimed the top prize in the EuroMillions Plus draw.

The punter, who is now €500,000 richer, bought their ticket at Applegreen on Kimmage Road on the day of the draw.

The winning EuroMillions Plus numbers forTuesday’s draw were 05, 21, 28, 32, 42.
