Lottie Ryan reveals dad Gerry was late to work every day as he gave her pep talks when she was bullied

Lottie Ryan has revealed her dad Gerry was late for his radio show every day for a year because he was giving her pep talks.

The 32-year-old said she was forced to move school and was a target because of his fame.

She added: “I was really badly bullied, like very badly bullied when I was in first year of school – so around 13 or 14.

“I haven’t spoken about it with anyone outside of my family before but if I speak about it I still get really upset.

“I had to move schools because I was at the stage where I was eating my lunch every day in the toilet by myself and not in a good place.

“It ended up that my dad was driving me to school every morning up to the front door and giving me a pep talk. School begins at nine and he had a show at the time that began at nine.

“I’m pretty sure for that whole year he must have been late to air nearly every day and I think he got in trouble in work for it.

“Nobody knew [he was late] because he was sitting in his car with me trying to pep me up to go into school.

“My parents did everything they could at the time, I think they were heartbroken for me.”

The entertainment reporter said she was bullied over not wearing the same watch as other girls and she was surprised it was a big deal that she was Gerry’s daughter.

She told 2FM’s Jennifer Zamparelli’s show: “Young girls are just so sneaky and bitchy – well that’s my personal experience of it.

“I was a little bit weird probably, I was definitely a little bit different.

“I think that [Gerry’s fame] made me an easier target and for me that was a huge shock.”
