Lottery winners were seven-figure losers on sale of Troon mansion

Lottery winners Colin and Christine Weir banked a whopping loss of £1.2 million on the sale of their Troon mansion.

And that’s before they splashed out a fortune on renovations and building a garage for a fleet of cars and a brace of garden rooms.

The figure for what they sold Frognal House a year ago has only now emerged on public rolls.

The couple paid hotel tycoon Bill Costley £3.5m for the pile six years ago when they shifted south from Largs.

The sold it for £2.3millon after they split up.

Sprawling Frognal had been put on the market at an upset price of offers over £2.25m.

The new horse-loving owner put an extra £50,000 on top to seal the bargain deal in under a fortnight.

Colin died aged 71 in December and his friends and family staged a wake for him at Turnberry Hotel.

He had shifted to a villa in Belleisle Drive, Doonfoot, while it is not known where mum-of-two Christine moved to.

They were the biggest UK lottery winners when they won more than £161m nine years ago.

At Frognal , they built a seven-bay car garage and two sun rooms without permission.

And they had to spend thousands rebuilding a Listed brick boundary wall they flattened illegally.
