Lottery winner spotted playing golf in Donald Trump cap - 27 years after jackpot win

Once dubbed Britain’s most eligible bachelor after he bagged £10.9million on the National Lottery, Karl Crompton has been spotted enjoying a round of golf with pals.

He was just 23 when he won the huge sum back in 1996, becoming one of the earliest jackpot winners.

A trainee at electrical goods store Comet earning £100 a week, he had people swooning at his fetching looks and new-found riches.

Sporting a baseball cap supporting Donald Trump, long grey locks and a beard, the 50-year-old was seen this week on a course near Preston, Lancs.

The dad of two is thought to have doubled his money thanks to wise investments, building an impressive property portfolio.

A decade after winning the prize he married his long-term girlfriend Nicole Roach. However, the pair are thought to have since split up and he is believed to be single.

He built a five bedroom Gothic style mansion on the outskirts of Blackpool where he is believed to still live with his two children.

Karl said last year: “Being alone is better than being surrounded by wrong people.”

Friends say Karl couldn’t be more down to earth regularly mucking in with building work on his properties.

He even took to social media looking for an engineering apprenticechip for one of his boys.

He previously told how it was his family who first encouraged him to buy a ticket, recalling: “My mum and dad and brother helped pick some numbers then I went out with my pals.

“The next morning, I came downstairs to the kitchen and my mum said, ‘You’re looking at a lottery winner. I’ve got four numbers and got £96 or something.’

“So I looked at the numbers and my ticket. Even when Camelot later confirmed the numbers, I couldn’t believe I’d won.”
