Lottery winner Sandra becomes a Scratchcard Santa giving a little cheer to those in need

A Johnstone mum who scooped £300,000 on a National Lottery Scratchcard has joined other lucky Scots giving back to the vulnerable.

Sandra Devine put in a shift with a charity that brings Christmas comfort to those that need it.

We revealed last month that youth worker Sandra and postie hubby Martin won the jackpot after failing to get a table at a Johnstone Italian restaurant.

Instead of enjoying a meal, they bought a £3 scratchcard.

Sandra,36, has now become a postie herself, delivering the goodies.

She helped deliver sack loads of personalised Christmas card and treats to hundreds of “isolated elderly and vulnerable.”

It was part of an arrangement with other lottery winners and the charity Glasgow’s Golden Generation.

The mum-of-three said: “Christmas is my favourite time of year, and while me and my family are looking forward to celebrating together, there are many elderly and vulnerable people around Glasgow who will be spending it on their own.

“I really hope our personalised cards put a smile on some faces and, most importantly, let them know that we are thinking of them over the festive period.

“It was a real pleasure to be involved, not only writing cards and packing Christmas puddings, but being able to visit Glasgow’s Golden Generation to deliver them in person. They really do a fantastic job of supporting vulnerable people in the local community, making sure that no one feels alone.”

The Devine win of £300,000 is tiny compared to some of the other winners involved, who had a combined wealth of £19 million.

Glasgow’s Golden Generation has been serving the city for almost 70 years.
