Lottery respond to couple who lost out on £182m Euromillions jackpot after banking error

A couple have been left heartbroken after they missed out on a huge Euromillions jackpot because of a banking error.

The heartbroken pair shared their agony with ITV's Lorraine Kelly, who was left wincing with sympathy for the couple.

The Scottish host told viewers: "Spare a thought for Liam McCrohan and Rachel Kennedy who missed out on a £182million Euromillions jackpot."

Rachel, 19, and Liam 21 were left “absolutely heartbroken” when it dawned on them their usual numbers of 6, 12, 22, 29, 33, 6 and 11 had come up but the payment for their ticket couldn't go through, Chronicle Live reports.

Lorraine explained: "The couple's regular numbers came up in the draw but their ticket hadn't been purchased as their online [bank]account didn't have enough funds!"

he added: "Can you imagine?! Oh no! You would...oh jeez!

"That's a tough one, that's a tough one isn't it?!"

Euromillions operated Camelot responded, saying: "We're aware of Rachel's story and hope she gets in early to buy a ticket for the next big draw," said a spokesperson for the firm.

"We have a £20m Must Be Won Lotto jackpot up for grabs on Saturday, so wish her the best of luck in that or any future draws."
