Lottery bosses respond after couple's error costs them £182m Euromillions jackpot

Lottery bosses have responded after a young couple's jackpot dreams went up in smoke - and they missed out on a £182m jackpot.

"Heartrboken" Liam McCrohan, 21, and Rachel Kennedy, 19, realised their usual numbers had come up - but the payment for their ticket hadn't gone through.

The couple spoke of their agony with ITV's Lorraine Kelly earlier this week, with the Scottish host urging viewers to "spare a thought" for the unlucky pair.

Now, as BirminghamLive reports, operator Camelot has reacted to the couple's lotto woe.

"We're aware of Rachel's story and hope she gets in early to buy a ticket for the next big draw," said a spokesperson for the firm.

"We have a £20m Must Be Won Lotto jackpot up for grabs on Saturday, so wish her the best of luck in that or any future draws."

The couple had played the same numbers - 6, 12, 22, 29, 33, 6 and 11 - for five weeks prior to last Friday's draw, when they would have scooped the eye-watering sum.

And after they appeared on Lorraine, Twitter users were quick to offer their sympathy.

One posted: "That's just life messing with you."
