Residents in Lothian missed out on coronavirus vaccinations on Monday after appointment letters arrived late.
A number of vaccinations were unable to take place at the start of the week due to the mishap.
A statement released today apologised to everyone affected for any "inconvenience" caused by the late vaccination appointments.
The apology was signed the Royal Mail, NHS Lothian, National Delivery Programme and NHS National Services Scotland.
Today national delivery partners met to discuss the mistake and establish why the letters were sent out late.
Anyone who was affected by the delay and missed an appointment will automatically receive another invitation for a vaccination at the start of next week.
A joint statement released by NHS National Services Scotland said: "A number of Covid-19 vaccination appointments were unable to take place on Monday, March 15 in the Lothian area because of the late arrival of appointment letters.
"The national programme would like to apologise to any resident who missed an appointment and for any inconvenience caused.
Although the vast majority of vaccination appointments run smoothly, the national delivery partners met today to build a better understanding of what happened on this occasion.
"We are working closely together to ensure we give people the advance notice they need for vital vaccination appointments.
"Anyone who missed an appointment will automatically receive another invitation for a new appointment in the week commencing Monday March 22.
