Lothian Buses worker in serious condition after being crushed by runaway bus

A bus worker has been left in a serious condition after being crushed by a runaway bus at depot in Edinburgh .

Ronnie McGhie was working at Lothian Buses Annandale Street depot when he was struck by the vehicle on Saturday, October 5.

It is believed the man was hit by the 10-ton bus after its handbrake was left off, reports the BBC.

The bus then made its way towards another vehicle in the depot before Ronnie stepped in between to stop them crashing into one another.

Ronnie suffered a number of injuries and has remained in a coma since the incident.

A spokesperson for Lothian Buses told the BBC said: “We can confirm that a member of our team was involved in an incident within our Central garage on Saturday evening. Our thoughts are with our employee and his family at this difficult time."
