Lothar Matthaus 'sure' about Ryan Gravenberch transfer as Liverpool watch on

Bayern Munich and Germany legend Lothar Matthaus believes Liverpool target Ryan Gravenberch and Reds icon Sadio Mane will leave the club this summer.

The Dutchman, Gravenberch, has become a player of interest for chiefs at Anfield after the 21-year-old was shortlisted as a potential addition this summer.

Jurgen Klopp is looking to reinforce his midfield department and the former Ajax youngster is among the candidates to follow Alexis Mac Allister through the entrance at the AXA Training Centre.

During his debut season in the Bundesliga, the midfielder was resigned to just 24 appearances in the German top-flight, three of which came as a starter as he failed to usurp Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich in the heart of the midfield.

"I'm sure that five or six players from the current squad will no longer wear the Bayern shirt next season," Matthaus said speaking to SportBILD. "[Yann] Sommer, [Alexander] Nübel, [Ryan] Gravenberch, [Marcel] Sabitzer and [Sadio] Mané are candidates for me.

"Mané was an attractive transfer in terms of name, which unfortunately didn't work out. Two good games, a serious injury and then his character made a negative impression on a team-mate and his coach. Of course, that doesn't exactly increase the market value," he added.

The lack of game time has prompted speculation over his future but a recent admission from Gravenberch suggests he isn't giving up hope on his career in Bavaria just yet.

Sadio Mane was among the summer signings for Julian Nagelsmann last summer but he too suffered in his first campaign in Germany. After a bright start, the Reds icon was embroiled in a bust-up with teammate Leroy Sane and reports from the region suggest he could depart after just one season.
